Send in the Clowns

John Kerry claims President Bush has left us vulnerable to attack and that as president Kerry would be "prepared to appoint a special envoy of the quality of Bill Clinton" to forge consensus in trouble spots such as the Middle East. I don't know about the concensus part, but I do know there would be a lot of stained dresses.
The UN Wants to be Relevant

The UN believes that "if the big powers aren't listening, it means they don't care what you have to say." Sorry, but that doesn't make you relevant. We still don't care what you have to say.

Iraqi Bodyfraud

Since the beginning of the war in Iraq, there's been a website called Iraqi Body Count purportedly "counting" the number of dead Iraqis caused by the US invasion. I'm certain others have seen it and been disgusted by the utter fraudulent counting methods used. For example, they count pretty much any death regardless of who may have caused it, including causes such as lynching, suicide car bomb, and bomb hid in vegetables. Last time I looked, the US military, or any 21st Century military for that matter, does not engage in uses methods, but the purveyors of this filth continue to blame the US for the deaths. Moreover, they've now gone a step further and are comparing those deaths with US and other deaths at the hands of terrorists:

Elsewhere in the world over the same period, paramilitary forces hostile to the USA have killed 408 civilians in 18 attacks worldwide (see Table 1). Adding the official 9-11 death toll (as of October 29th 2003) brings the total to just under 3500

Paramilitary forces? Who the hell are these wackos kidding? I have to stop, I'm about to kick in my computer...

Oh No, It's Nader...

The dems are in a frenzy over Ralph Nader's run for the presidency. They claim he handed the 2000 election to Bush, especially in Florida. Nader denies the charge. I don't know if he's used this example, but here's mine: Tennessee. If you look at the numbers from Al Gore's home state, Bush won by 80,299 votes, well beyond the 19,781 votes Nader took in the state. Had Gore carried his home state, he would have won the election. Nader is correct, Gore lost the election on his own.

TENNESSEE
Bush.....1,061,949..... 51.15%
Gore...... 981,720......47.28%
Nader....... 19,781........0.95%

Here We Go Again

Now it's Free Burgers for Voters in Milwaukee. Four years ago during the Bush/Gore campaign, it was cigarettes. At least now they're saying the burgers "do[] not constitute something of value."

I wonder if the Heinz ketchup is worth anything?

Abandon Ship, Abandon Ship...

The Dean ship is taking on water and going down fast. Dean's National Campaign Chairman Departs. How sad.
Door Number Three, Monty...

It looks like the Kerry intern eruption might finally get some legs. Apparently a major network has done an interview with the girl. Let's see if it ever gets released.

After tomorrow's Wisconsin primary, the only clowns left in the race will be Kerry, Edwards, Kucinich, and Sharpton (I expect Dean to drop out tomorrow night). If this erupts and Kerry drops out, it looks like we're going to have to go with "door number three."
Bomb in a Baghdad Schoolyard

A bomb in an elementary schoolyard? Liberals call them freedom-fighters. With this as an example, you can only call them terrorists and murderers.

Run Ralph Run

It looks like Ralph Nader is going to run again. Although I expect his popularity and votes will dwindle this time compared to 2000, I still expect him to take away the fringe folks on the left that were mainly in the Dean camp. Those are the nuts that could make the difference. Anything to keep Kerry out of office, including "bimbos".

You're Still in Mexico

The US soccer team lost in one of the Olympic qualifying rounds, eliminating them from the summer Olympics competition. During the game, Mexican fans chanted "Osama, Osama, Osama". Apparently, US won't protest the taunting, but we will continue working on our big fence.

Just Shut Up About the AWOL Charge

The Globe again has dispelled rumors about Bush's AWOL charge, an issue they started in 2000, by interviewing one of people involved in an overheard conversation involving Bush's records. This really is silly when the press has to go this far to dispel crap like this.

By bringing this issue up in February, it will innoculate Bush in the Fall when the dems try to bring it up again. Kerry's record in 1972 will be highlighted incessently and hurt him. Fast forward to the debate in October 2004. Question to Mr. Kerry, "What were you doing in 1972 while Lt. Bush was flying F-102s?"

"Uhhh, uhhh. Aww, forget it."

John Kerry's Intern Troubles

"Excellent"
Crimson Kerry:

Thirty plus years ago, John Kerry gave an interview to the Harvard Crimson that I'm sure he'd like to forget.

When he approached his draft board for permission to study for a year in Paris, the draft board refused and Kerry decided to enlist in the Navy.
...

Immediate withdrawal from Vietnam, Kerry said, would take about seven months due to complex logistics problems. During that interval he would allow only "self-defense return of fire." "Logistic suport is now what Nixon is talking about leaving there and I don't want to see that. I don't think we should leave support troops there and I don't think we should give Vietnam any more than the foreign aid given any other one country." He does not feel there would be a massive slaughter of American, sympathizers once the United States pulled out.
...

Kerry said that the United Nations should have control over most of our foreign military operations. "I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations."

On other issues, Kerry wants "to almost eliminate CIA activity. The CIA is fighting its own war in Laos and nobody seems to care." He also favors a negative income tax [giving money to people below a certain income] and keeping unemployment at a very low level, "even if it means selective economic controls."

These could be dismissed as "youthful indiscretions" if Kerry didn't believe this stuff. But based on his votes and statements since then, he's been singing this tune for 30 years. This guy should not be president in the world we now face.

Time to Put the AWOL Claim to Rest:

The dems have resurrected the Bush was AWOL claim from the 2000 election hoping that it would gain steam and have legs. It has gained steam but it's legs are giving out. The Boston Globe this morning is reporting that Bush received credit for guard duty during the period in controversy.

The personnel records, covering Bush's Guard service between May 1972 and May 1973, constitute the first evidence that Bush appeared for any duty during the first 11 months of that 12-month period. Bush is recorded as having served the minimum number of days expected of Guard members in that 12 months of service time.

One of the documents lists nine service periods of 2 to 3 days each and records the points Bush earned toward his service retirement benefit. The other is a summary of his service in the 12 months beginning May 1972, and lists the same number of service points earned.

This is very disturbing, however:

The Globe obtained both of the documents from a political activist who says he acquired them in December 2000 from the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Colorado. The activist, Bob Fertig, is a cofounder of Democrats.com, a website that has no formal affiliation with the Democratic Party.

Geez. What is going on here? This crap needs to be stopped.

Money

I've added a link to Amazon if anyone cares to donate. It's pefectly voluntary unlike taxes. And rest assured I will not spend it on some wasteful liberal program like our government. Thanks.
Bush on Meet the Press

I didn't watch it or hear it, but I read the transcript. He didn't do too badly. I never expect much from these interviews, and I don't think the voters do either (which I happen to be). No one has ever believed Bush is Hamlet, but he has true conviction about protecting the US and me. If we don't have our freedom protected then what's all the other crap worth that the dems keep moaning about.

Flashback: Who Gave in 2002?

Here's another link to Open Secrets, this time for the individual donors. Look at the top 10, only one Republican. And the dems try to claim the Republicans have the wealthy donors. It's pure crap.
Fox: Fair and Balanced!

Here's a search on OpenSecrets.org under employer "Fox". As you can see below, the results are balanced between Bush and Kerry, and one for Dean:

Troy Aikman (Fox Sports) - 8/14/2003, $2,000 - George W. Bush

Gail Berman-Masters, Fox Broadcasting President of Entertainment - 3/21/2003, $1,000 - John Kerry

Carol J. Blanton, Executive Assistant at Fox Broadcasting - 8/13/2003, $250, George W. Bush

Amy Burkholder, Senior Producer, Fox News Channel - 7/22/2003, $250, Howard Dean

Peter Chernin, Fox Studios - 3/31/2003, $2,000 - John Kerry

Suzanne Feldman, Fox News Channel Sales Executive - $2,000 - 6/26/2003, George W. Bush

David A. Grant, Fox Studios President - 3/6/2003, $2,000 - John Kerry

Bert A. Solivan, Fox News Channel - 7/21/2003, $240 - National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Darrell Waltrip, Fox Sports - 9/5/2003, $2,000 - George W. Bush
Saddam and 9/11

There's a contest going on over at Horologium challenging anyone who can come up with a quote from a senior administration source that linked Saddam and 9/11. I've put $45 into the pot. I don't ever expect to pay because not one official made the link. Sorry chumps.

Happy Birthday President Reagan

The first presidential election I voted in was Reagan's re-election bid. It's still my proudest moment in voting for a president.

Laws Run Amok?

No offense to you folks from Georgia, but this is just plain stupid. I thought Georgia was a conservative state? I believe that the last thing conservatives should be doing is passing more legislation that infringes on personal rights. We have enough laws on the books, we don't need any more. In fact, we should be looking for ways to eliminate and sunset more laws and make government more manageable. If someone wants to smoke in his car with his kids then fine. Although it's stupid, the state should not be interfering.

As Predicted, See Ya' Joe

As I predicted, Joe Lieberman is out of the race for president. He didn't have a prayer of winning because of his tough stand on defense issues. The dems, and especially the ones that vote in primaries, are doves and won't be able to shake that issue with the formerly decorated John Kerry. As for the 5% that voted for Lieberman, they may be the deciding factor in the race. They're more like Reagan democrats and might move over to Bush in the general election. I still see a Bush win in November.
Bush AWOL?

I always knew this story was total bull. In fact, I remember on the weekend before the election in 2000, the NY Times (yes, I used to subscribe) published a story debunking the Boston Globe's May 2000 story that raised the issue. No one saw the Times' story because the press was in a frenzy over Bush's old drunk driving charge. The story has remained dormant (except on loony left sites) until now when the looniest of the left Michael Moore and former general and now tin-hat wearer Wesley Clark took up the cudgels on the issue.

Rather than go into my diatribe on the issue, I found a good explanation concerning the facts on Bush's National Guard service. Amazingly, the left is wrong. Oh my, how could that have happened. I hope John Kerry continues to hammer on this issue. It will open up wounds relating to his service in Vietnam including his joining anti-US groups, throwing somone else's medals over the fence at the Capital, and his schizophrenic stand on military issues.

BUSH VS KERRY

Three polls have Bush already losing to Kerry. Another yawn. Gallup has Kerry ahead of Bush 53% - 46%. Quinnipiac University has Kerry leading Bush 51% - 43%. And Newsweek from last week has Kerry over Bush 48% - 46%. Each has its own flaws like polling registered voters rather than likely voters or polling the general populace rather than specific states, from which the electoral vote will come or using dubious weighting of their results. The other problem is they're taken in FEBRUARY!. The election is 9 months off and John Kerry isn't the nominee yet. He could still falter and if he doesn't he's going to be so battered by the general election he's going to need botox over his entire body to hide the damage.

Primaries

A bunch of primaries today in Arizona, Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Oklahoma. A big yawn if you ask me. Kerry will win all of them except for SC (Edwards) and OK (Clark). The only thing that will come of it will be Joe Lieberman's dropping out by the end of the week, and maybe as early as tonight. Too bad for Joe. Even though he's a liberal, he's been consistent on the war in Iraq and defense. I've never voted for him though.

South Carolina Democrat Oath

Apparently, the South Carolina Democrats have learned nothing after the turmoil of the Civil War or the Civil Rights struggle in the 50's and 60's because they're now planning on requiring voters to sign an oath that they are democrats if they want to vote in the dem primary on Tuesday. I got a preview of the oath:

I am an idiot. I plan on voting for a democrat today. I will not vote for Buchanan.
Dean the Spendthrift

The New York Times is reporting that Dean Spent $31.7 million in 2003 before any votes were even cast. I've run a campaign, nothing like the Dean campaign, either in scope or debacle, but geeez, what a stupid way to spend money. I realize he had to get his name out, but this much money and no wins yet? Ouch. The amazing thing is people are still throwing money at his campaign. Hint to Dean donors: email me your credit card number or send me your money through paypal and I'll spend it more wisely than his campaign.

Rock Throwing Muslim Alert

It's become an annual ritual for Muslims to die in the annual ritual of Hajj. Like usual this year doesn't disappoint with 244 Muslims dying in this year's festivities. This is the best part:

After the sleepless night of prayer following the sermon, pilgrims gathered pebbles to throw at the pillars. Each threw seven times, chanting "bismillah" ("In the name of God") and "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Great").

Calling America "the greatest Satan," Egyptian pilgrim Youssef Omar threw pebbles at one pillar where someone scrawled "USA."

Maybe next time, they'll get some sleep and try to kill someone other than their fellow Muslims. I take that back, let them kill each other.
